Offered every other year on Main Street Roulette at our home church First Baptist Church of Roulette the Living Nativity is sure to be an event well remembered. This 4 stage, 30 plus actor/actress, depiction of our Lord’s birth is displayed as best we can figure it happened. The wrap-around driveway offers a chance to stay warm in the car as the scenes are viewed. Of course, children and adults alike love the chance to walk through and pet the animals and interact with the actors and actresses.

     Stage one in the front lawn shows the angels appearing while shepherds keep their flocks by night. Real sheep, ponies, a sheep dog, shepherds and angels bring this scene to life. The angels sing carols and the sheep are waiting to be pet.

     Stage two appears around the corner. Here is found the entrance to the inn (of course with no vacancy) and the stable out back. Mary, Joseph, and a baby are nestled in the hay with cows, chickens, donkeys, and goats surrounding the manger.

     Stage three is the palace. King Herod and his queen implore the wise men to tell where baby Jesus can be found so they can “worship” Him as well. Centurions guard the palace and stable boys and girls can be found giving pony rides behind the palace.

     Stage four concludes our depiction of Jesus’ first arrival on Earth. With a star shining bright above Mary and Joseph’s house is hard to miss. Here a toddler “Jesus” plays with 1st century toys until the wise men arrive and present their offerings of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
