Horse Day Camp is geared for beginner riders. Monday will begin with an introduction to basic safety both on and around horses. Campers will receive the opportunity to groom and saddle their assigned horses. Lessons begin in the arena, but by the end of the day we will be heading into the woods for a trail ride. Not only will campers have a chance to learn how to ride horses, they will also learn different ground lessons about horses. Feed and nutrition, gaits and footfalls, breeds, colors and markings, how to give a health checkup, showmanship, trailer loading and horse dentistry are just some of the options we offer as ground lessons.

We offer this camp three separate times throughout the summer, once each month on a Monday and Tuesday. In June Pastor Mike Reeves of North Eulalia Baptist Church will be bringing our daily devotionals. Pastor Jack Gregg of Regular Baptist Church will bring our devotions during this camp in July. Finally, in August, Pastor Chad Shaffer of Bell Run Union Church will deliver our daily devotionals.

If this camp is not enough horses for teenage girls we encourage them to sign up for either Horsemanship Camp or Vaulting and Trick Riding Camp. Horse Day Camp is geared towards beginner riders, while Horsemanship and Vaulting are more for those older or a little more horse experienced. Campers may come to more than one Horse Day Camp, but because this a limited camp, spots will first be given to those who have not already attended a Horse Day Camp this summer.

There is a weight limit of 250 lbs. for all riders. It is highly recommended that you have the ability to mount and dismount the horse with minimal assistance.
