God's Adventure Camp is celebrating its 28th year! Here is how it all got started!

An Idea

God’s Adventure Camp was founded in 1996. The idea had been churning for decades before that. Bruce and Sheri Greene both worked in camp ministry prior to college graduation in 1981. After they married and started teaching the youth group in Roulette, overnight camp outs were par for the course, including a “Polar Bear” campout in the dead of winter. Both of them had a heart for reaching youth and also for keeping their own home as a channel for God’s use.

Surrender

In 1995 God began to move Bruce to step out on faith and just offer what he had, and the rest would come. Bruce often says that it was God’s Word to Moses, “What’s in your hand?” that moved him to begin. What was in his hand was a family farm and acres and acres of timber for building. With the 400 acres on the family farm and a thousand acres of game lands surrounding the farm, outdoor activities were not limited.

Development

The first weeks of summer camp were one week for boys and one week for girls. Those first groups slept in tents and ate in the Greene’s dining room. Through the years we have added the Greene Cabin, the Grace Cabin, the “Upper” and “Lower Cabins” on the mountain (no longer in use)  the Hillside Cabin, Snack Shack, the putt putt course, the knife throwing cage, the octoball, arena, horse program, pavilion and many more things to be used for God’s glory to “reach today’s youth with God’s eternal truth” one camper at a time.
